What are the eight sectors of the metallurgical industry?

The metallurgical industry is a broad concept encompassing multiple fields; it primarily involves a series of industrial activities such as the exploration, mining, beneficiation, pelletizing, sintering, iron and steel smelting, refining, continuous casting, and hot/cold rolling of metal minerals. The following are the eight major sectors included in the metallurgical industry:

Ferrous metallurgy industry: The industrial sector producing iron, chromium, manganese, and their alloys; it primarily supplies raw materials for modern industry, transportation, infrastructure construction, and military equipment.

Non-ferrous metallurgy industry: The sector involved in smelting non-ferrous metals, including industries such as copper, aluminum, lead-zinc, nickel-cobalt, tin, precious metals, and rare metals.

Rare metal metallurgy industry: Involves the production of rare metals such as indium (including indium wire), rare earths, germanium, and titanium.

Powder metallurgy industry: A process for producing porous, semi-dense, or fully dense materials and products by pressing and sintering metal powders.

Refractory materials industry: Supplies essential refractory materials-such as refractory bricks and castables-for metallurgical processes.

Metallurgical machinery industry: Involves the manufacturing and maintenance of various machinery and equipment used in metallurgical processes.

Metal material processing industry: Includes the further processing of metal materials, such as forging, rolling, and drawing.

Metallurgy-related foreign trade industry: International trade activities such as the import of concentrates and the export of metals.
